  Limen

"Limen" is an excellent book about the River Rother, its' history, current appearance and use. It also contains information about the future of the River Rother, which is rather fascinating. The story of the River Rother is an exciting one, which is told with great skill by Tony. He uses a mixture of factual and descriptive language to draw in the reader. Tony has a great affection for the River Rother, which is shown in his writing.

The River Rother has never held much attraction to me, however by the time I had read "Limen", my interest had increased. I found "Limen" interesting and easy to understand. One can learn a great deal from reading it, however Tony delivers the information lightly, without making it dull for the reader. The inclusion of maps, diagrams and photographs provides more background knowledge and history of the River Rother, making the book more aesthetically pleasing.

Tony is obviously extremely knowledgeable about the River Rother and its' past, and is keen to share this with the readers of "Limen". I think that the quotes included in "Limen" add to his writing. When writing about storms that the River Rother has suffered and the invasions, Tony uses a dramatic technique. This captivates the reader even more so, which makes one eager to read on so that the story can unfold.

To conclude I thought "Limen" was written with emotion and knowledge, which when mixed together produce a very intriguing read that I would definitely recommend to everyone living in the region of the River Rother.
