All Ways Fishing

This book will appeal to anyone who has fished or is fishing for a number of different species and especially to anyone who fished in Sussex and Kent in the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and 80’s, although some of it relates to the 90’s and early part of this century. It is the story of Roger Standen and his friends who fished throughout this time, capturing many different types of fish from dace to carp and pike. But, it is not just about catching big fish, but relates to the highs and lows that all of us experience.

They started off fishing small ponds and drains on the marshes travelling at first on push-bikes and then clapped out cars and vans and finally in the relative comfort of the modern automobile. Slowly they spread their wings, fishing lots of different waters over Sussex, Kent and Hampshire.

In the fifty years that the book covers, they experienced angling when it was pure and simple to the high technological form it takes today. However, the book is not about how to catch them, it how to enjoy angling, about the experiences we can all look back on and laugh about in the pub, or occasionally brag.

It is an easy to read autobiographical account of a dedicated angler who is as keen today as he was more than fifty years ago. There are more than 30 black and white photographs of fish caught over the years including some exceptional fish like big perch and chub from small rivers in the southeast. Read this book, you will not be disappointed.
